What research methods have been useful and/or enjoyable? What are good ways of researching for me?

I really benefitted from the primary research I did on location in chinatown and would like to incorporate that further in my practice once I have left foundation, especially as I am not doing art at university.

What problems have I encountered, what ideas do I have for solutions?

Trying to do all the digital drawings was just an immense amount of worn such a short time and then I was encouraged by the print technicians not to bother doing the whole thing in riso, initially I was convinced by this but then reassessed and decided that I really wanted to see the final outcome in it's full glory, especially as I had drawn the whole thing expecting it to be in riso.

How has feedback affected my work? How has it been useful or not?

I was so pleased that one of the tutors wanted a copy, I think it made me feel like all the work I had done in such a short space of time was worthwhile and I told basically all my friends and family. It was really lovely to get that kind of 'stamp' of approval on my work.

What is it about my ideas that I want to explore?

I really like the longer content formatting of this and would like to do something similar in the future as it makes the zine really substantial as a product. I also want to have the opportunity to explore more with riso while I can. I also do really like the subject matter and I think it could be interesting to do something similar with my hometown.

What materials and processes am I interested in? What is it about these that I want to explore?

I feel like I am getting better at riso and It actually seems like a rather smooth process if you get to the print studio early and stay out of the way. I definitely want to do more and try to use more colours the next time.

What will I do differently in future? What will I develop in future?

I would not do much differently at all with this project. I would make sure some of the art is not cut off on the bottom of the back cover but that is the only minor fault really. I almost just wish I had printed more, because to my surprise lots friends and family wanted copies, one of whom actually used it on a visit to chinatown.
