How has my research fed into my work?

Discussion in my seminar prompted me to just sit and write something with no expectations or pressure and I think my research made me feel like I knew enough that I could stray from the text without getting lost. The riso prints I did last week were very much tied directly too the text itself and my research in it made me more confident in my experimentation.

What problems have I encountered, what ideas do I have for solutions?

Logistically I think it needs some edits for words that children of my target audience age group might not yet be able to comprehend, like flail and some fact-checking of animal anatomy as I wrote it without double checking if bats really do have claws and whether or not a cat might eat a gnat. These are all rather minor changes however. A larger amendment is the ending I am currently unsure of how to add some kind of link back to the beginning and to the essay by Nagel himself. Either I do that in poetry also or I add an informative page for parents at the end that explains my thought proccess.

How do I feel about how it is going? How do I feel about my work?

I am really proud of this poem, I think it has shifted my project into a really interesting direction and I am looking forward to seeing what results from this. I am also a little nervous as to what on earth a bat-cat-rat-gnat might look like. Otherwise I am really happy to have it move at a faster pace than the riso prints I produced, especially because I feel like this is the less expected outcome.

How has feedback affected my work? How has it been useful or not?

Feedback from the poetry writing here was really really useful as it served as encouragement. in the previous projects I was very timid to show written work and so I was nervously putting off my first attempt. As I wrote each part I enthusiastically read it aloud to my table and kept jotting things down quickly. The first draft took no more than twenty minutes in total and by the end of the day I had someone ask me what my project was about as they had overhead me reading out the words bat, rat, cat and gnat numerous times throughout the day.

What ideas am I interested in?

I really enjoyed the readings I gave throughout the day to my friends as I enthusiastically fumbled over the words rat, bat, cat and gnat far too quickly and constantly got them in the wrong order. I think people really liked the engagement that my reading brought to it and so that steers me more toward a narrated animation which I would like to look into a little further as it is a direction I had not really anticipated this project ending up in.
