How has my research fed into my work?

My initial drawings from reference were really influential in these digital drawings and would not have come out as well had they been drawn digitally straight away. I also used the blackout pages that I made earlier on in the FMP process and so I had already chosen what to and what not to include in the drawing. I chose to circle two words, highlight some and black-out the rest.

What is going well and what isn’t going so well and why?

I was really struggling with where this project was going and was feeling quite stagnant and so I was relieved to have made a piece of work that I was really proud of. At a couple of points I was considering making it into a two colour riso but concluded that it looked much better all in black. Im also really happy with the composition as I think it's not too overwhelming that you can't still read the essay but provides a lot of engagement. The original essay itself is not something you would be particularly drawn to without an interest in philosophy but with the title and my illustrations I think it looks much more enticing. Another element I really like is the little black textured bats, the drawn texture and dark area provides a lot of balance with the dark blackout areas. I also really like that they are much more realistic as they are drawn from reference images of actual bats flying than from memory.

What materials and processes am I interested in? What is it about these that I want to explore?

I really want to see how this comes out in riso, and so plan to do that this week

Do my ideas relate to each other or previous works? How do they relate?

This work relates to the work I was doing last week where I was drawing over the actual printed essay in black ink. The problem with that was that the paper was really thin and not able to handle the ink very well and my ink paintings were horrible on the printer paper.
